It’s all in the details. When you hire a decorator
to help you plan window fashions in your own home, it’s all about
expressing your own personal style. The decorator’s
job is to ask the questions that will help you express what you see in
your mind, help you visualize the finished product and understand fabrication
terms such as… trim bottom edges.
As you can see in this picture, there is brush fringe
trim all along the bottom of the swags
and cascades. There are also tassel ties
applied to the corners of the top treatment. These are all terms you may
or may not be familiar with. It is your decorators responsibility to make
sure you know what you are getting.
The difference between ready made, made-to-measure, and custom can be
subtle or dramatic. Ready made items come from a store from their in-stock
selection. Everyone can have one. Made-to-measure is when you supply the
store your window measurement details and they make a semi-custom product
to match your details of the window size. You become responsible for the
end result. Custom is when you have virtually limitless options to choose
from and the decorator helps you accomplish the totally custom look you
desire. Measuring and detailing the work order become the responsibility
of the decorator.
